Rapid supply of customers with therapeutic nutrition / enteral nutrition
In addition to service, MED TRUST also prioritises the fast and uncomplicated supply of people. By supplying the patients of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund in Vienna, MED TRUST is making a significant contribution to improving the supply of nutritional supplements to patients.
Therapeutic nutrition
A distinction is made between two different forms of therapeutic nutrition:
- “Enteral nutrition” means nutrition via the gastrointestinal tract (gr. enteron = intestine) with special nutrient solutions
- “Parenteral nutrition” is used for patients for whom nutrition via the gastrointestinal tract is no longer possible. The nutrients are administered directly into the bloodstream by means of infusions.
Enteral nutrition products are non-pharmacy-related therapeutic products that require authorisation.
Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) in Vienna
Since 2009, those insured with the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) in Vienna have been supplied with therapeutic and tube feeding products from Fresenius Kabi Austria GmbH. In addition, the costs of the paediatric tube feeds Infatrini, Nutrini Peptisorb and Nutrison Advanced Peptisorb are covered by ÖGK.
Prerequisite
The prerequisite for obtaining the healing food is
- The issuing of a prescription or a prescription slip by the hospital or the practising doctor
- Authorisation from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund, which can only be obtained by the doctor from the following offices:
– the control physicians at the ÖGK customer service centres in Vienna
– the Medical Service of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund; 1100 Wien, Wienerbergstraße 15-19
The prescription or order may specify the therapeutic food and any necessary accessories, such as transfer devices etc., up to one month’s supply. Prescriptions or orders for products other than those listed above will be transferred by the medical service to similar products from Fresenius Kabi or the paediatric tube feeds Infatrini, Nutrini Peptisorb and Nutrison Advanced Peptisorb.

Delivery
Once the prescribed nutritional products have been authorised, MED TRUST will deliver them to the desired address as quickly as possible free of charge.
Allow around one week from the time the prescription is sent to the actual order, as there may be delays in the authorisation and ordering process, especially between public holidays.
Prescription fee
As enteral nutrition products are therapeutic products, the prescription fee per packaging unit is charged directly by the supplier at the applicable rate, unless eligible persons are exempt from this. No prescription fee is payable for medical accessories (e.g. transfer device).
